sky's the limit, whatever you want to see on a forum
- there's a bucket of 100 emails to send out (see https://faq.nearlyfreespeech.net/full/e ... #emailbank ) so need to disable email notification capabilities, though requiring email verification to register seems reasonable
this is just off the top of my head, I'm sure we'll come up with more! just wanted to start writing things down
- issue tracker- forums aren't super ideal for this since things get lost, and a good issue tracker might allow us to 'vote' on priority or something like that
- figure out wtf I can't log in on my browser and why form submission breaks for adding bbcode
- font family tag
- make sure user uploads are disabled
- board layout (maybe a thread for this)
- rules, policies, etc. (definitely a thread for this)
- contact fields (user can add as many fields as they want, set privacy (based on friends/foes)- since I don't want PMs enabled, this gives people some way to connect on the platforms they already have and there's 1500 chat apps
- smileys
- add emoji picker (maybe integrate with smileys like how discord does it)
- wtf is the topic icon thing for
- reactions
- build out a base board theme that we can build themes on top of. basically if we have a solid base theme we can drop in colors and other images or overrides pretty easily.
- tag system. need to figure out how to handle this so they're actually used properly. presumably some kind of tag moderators (/wranglers as they're called on ao3) are needed
- remove all IP address storage, I don't think we need this
- recommended image hosts, add this to the post page as well as avatar page so we don't host them
- birthday field privacy settings
- multiple author system
- auto destroying messages
- 'right to be forgotten' data controls
- shoutbox? not a huge fan of these but like, sure
- thread, board, post hiding so you don't need to see things you don't want to see
